  • Richard is a founder of Rainforest Research. He is the Director of Investments in charge of investment management and research.

    Richard started off at a Big Four accounting firm, Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC), doing corporate finance and then went on to a private equity house OWW Capital Partners (previously known as OCBC, Wearnes & Walden) where he was an Executive Director and managed investment funds for over a decade covering South-East Asia and North Asia. Being bilingual, and due to his complete fluency in Chinese, he has had extensive on the ground investment experience in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

    He has close to 30 years of investment experience covering the entire spectrum of activities including identification, evaluation, due diligence, portfolio construction, investment research, investment valuation and oversight of corporate strategy and management of investee businesses.

    Professionally, Richard is a CFA Charter holder, an ACCA member (Gold Medallist - Topped the Singapore cohort of that year), and was made a Fellow of ACCA. After graduating from Hwa Chong Junior college, he graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Economics and Accountancy from Bristol University (UK).

  • Deanna is a founder of Rainforest Research. She is the Director of Operations in charge of legal, compliance, risk management and controls.

    Deanna was a lawyer in private practice, her last-held positions being an Of Counsel in the US law firm of Jones Day and then an Equity Partner in Rajah & Tann, where she belonged to the multiple award winning international arbitration practice in these firms.

    She had more than a decade of professional experience in legal practice, and has dealt with finance industry-related matters, including key compliance and risk management practices and issues, through involvement in notable cases such as Baring Futures (Singapore) Pte Ltd, China Aviation Oil (Singapore) Corporation Ltd, etc, and in reports to, amongst others, the Ministry Of Finance of Singapore, the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the Singapore Exchange. Thereafter, she became Director of Operations in Rainforest Research, a role which she has held for more than 10 years.

    Deanna obtained her law degree from Bristol University (UK) (where she was awarded the Overseas Student Award), after graduating from Hwa Chong Junior College. She was called to the UK Bar (Middle Temple) and admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore. She has also been on the Roll of UK Solicitors as well as a member of the Singapore Law Society, and is currently a member of the Singapore Academy of Law.

  • Liu Ming sits on the Board of Directors of our Rainforest Fund.

    Liu Ming is the Founder and Managing Director of Global Vision Capital Management Company, a Beijing-based corporate finance advisory firm.

    Prior to this he was the Managing Director of Corporate Finance and Strategic Consulting in BDO Reanda International, Beijing, a top tier accounting and consultancy firm in China with 21 branches and 2,000 staff. At BDO Reanda, Liu Ming was in charge of corporate finance, private placement, mergers & acquisition and advisory engagements.

    Before this he was the Chief Financial Officer of Global Infotech Group in China. Global Infotech Group is a leading financial software and solution provider in China with 1,800 staff providing services to the banking and insurance companies within China.

    Earlier, Liu Ming was the China President of a US investment company. He was in charge of investment in China which consisted of 4 joint ventures with a total of 600 staff.

    A native Beijinger, Liu Ming graduated from the China People’s University (Major in Accounting).

    Liu Ming brings with him continuing and deep experience as a longstanding member of the China professional and business community and shares valuable knowledge and insights on the China and North Asian perspective, business culture and on the ground conditions.
